Housing Commissioner Vicki Been to Deliver Sneak Preview of Mayor’s Housing Development Plan

(NEW YORK, NY, March 11) BuildingsNY-New York’s dedicated event for owners, managers and operators of buildings - announced today that Vicki Been, Housing Commissioner, The New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development (HPD)will deliver an important keynote address: Housing Development Under the New Mayor on March 19th at 8:45am at the NY Javits Convention Center as part of the BuildingsNY opening.  

Vicki Been is responsible for leading the nation’s largest municipal housing agency and is charged with creating and implementing Mayor Bill de Blasio’s Five Borough Housing Plan to create or preserve 200,000 affordable homes and apartments over 10 years.

Vicki Been delivers her address at 8:45 a.m. March 19th on the Main Stage at BuildingsNY in the Javits Center. Vicki will offer a sneak preview of the Mayor's plan to build and preserve 200,000 units of affordable housing. She will discuss the administration's approach to preservation, zoning, taxes, and community opposition to development in advance of the scheduled May 1st release of the Mayor's affordable housing plan. Mayor de Blasio has been invited to attend.

Prior to her appointment as HPD Commissioner, Ms. Been was Director for NYU’s Furman Center for Real Estate and Urban Policy. “We’re very excited to have Vicki preview the Mayor’s plan,” said RJ Palermo, Industry Vice President, BuildingsNY. “This is a great opportunity for the real estate industry to meet the new Commissioner and learn what the new administration is planning.”
