New, No-Cost Energy Efficiency Training Program

March 21, 2017, 1:15 PM - 2:15 PM

Level 1, 1C04

Learn about the goals that underlie the New, No-Cost Energy Efficiency Training Program!

Owners and managers of small- to mid-size residential buildings (5-50 apartment units or between 5,000 to 50,000 gross sq ft) will learn about a new opportunity launching in early 2017 to access free energy efficiency training for operations and maintenance staff.

This session will include an overview of the NYC Building Operator Training Program, including curriculum, training benefits, eligibility requirements, and the perspectives of its primary partners, including the NYC Mayor's Office of Sustainability, the NYC Department of Small Business Services, and the City University of New York’s Building Performance Lab.

Learning Objectives:
1. For New York City as a whole: the City’s OneNYC commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 80 percent from 2005 levels by 2050 (80x50).
2. For multifamily building owners & managers: reduced energy costs, extended lifespan of equipment, fewer calls to service providers, improved tenant environment, and better safety, compliance and emergency management protocols.
3. For NYC’s residential buildings workforce: improved building systems skills and energy efficiency knowledge can lead to a wage gain and a competitive advantage in the job market in addition to a better-operating facility.
